How it can go

  1. Monday

You open Maydan and see what is happening near you this week.

  2. Wednesday

You sign up for a halaqa ten minutes from your flat.

  3. Thursday

You find three brothers who play football every week. You show up for the next one.

  4. Friday

Coffee after jummah. Someone knows someone who is hiring.

  5. Six months later

You know fifty people in your city. One of them got you a job. The city feels like yours.

How we build for safety

Sisters should be able to join without hesitating. That decides whether Maydan becomes anything at all.

  • You know who is coming

Profiles are verified, and you see who has signed up before you sign up yourself.

  • Sisters only events

Sisters can create and find events that are open to sisters only.

  • You control what shows

You decide what others see about you. Nobody can look you up from the outside.

  • Humans moderate

Reports are handled by us, not only by an algorithm.

There are apps for prayer and apps for marriage. Nobody built one for the rest of your life.

Where this goes

We start in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. Then the rest of Sweden, then the Nordics and Europe.

No Muslim should have to build a life from zero in a new city.

Common questions

What is Maydan, in one line?+

A place to see what Muslims are doing in your city this week, and join in. Dinners, halaqas, sport, travel, study and people in your field.

I do not speak Swedish yet. Can I still use it?+

Yes. Maydan works in English from day one, and you can filter for things happening in English. Not speaking Swedish is one of the main reasons people end up isolated here, so we are not going to make that worse.

Is this a dating app?+

No. Maydan is for everything else. If you are looking for marriage there are other places for that.

Can I find work and contacts here?+

Yes. Jobs, mentors, industry meetups and collaborations are a core part of it. In Sweden most good jobs move through people, not job ads, and that network is exactly what newcomers do not have.

I just reverted. Is this for me?+

Especially for you. Becoming Muslim without a Muslim family or friends means starting your whole social life over. Maydan is built to make that start faster.

How do you think about safety for sisters?+

Profiles are verified, you see who signed up before you join, and sisters can create sisters only events. You decide what is visible about you.

What does it cost?+

Joining is free, and the core stays free. Maydan Plus comes later for those who want more.

When do you open?+

One city at a time, starting where most people are waiting. That is why your city and your invites matter.

How do I move up the list?+

You get your own link once you confirm your email. Everyone who joins through your link moves you up.

Who sees my details?+

Right now we only have your email, and it is only used to contact you about Maydan. We never sell it, and you can leave the list whenever you want.
